Even small design opportunities can have a big impact – especially when they are creatively focused on reaching the target users.

Kiddie Time Educational Center needed to find a way to create an inviting and engaging learning space on a very limited budget. The team at Ebbrell Architecture + Design felt that a creative approach to the interior finishes would produce the biggest impact at a reasonable cost.

  • Interesting and creative flooring patterns can activate an otherwise basic material such as vinyl tile. (And they can define a tricycle racetrack zone as well.)
  • Bright, bold pops of color combined with the cleanliness and calm of a neutral palette provide visual interest throughout the space without overstimulating the occupants.
  • Maximizing available daylight using materials and colors that allow for soft reflections – and supplementing it with an even-toned ambient lighting scheme – contributes to a successful learning space.
  • The emphasis of open areas for flexible use is achieved through properly scaled furniture that lends to children’s inquisitive nature.
