One Big Thing: A vacant office suite was transformed into a fully functioning occupational health clinic including exam rooms, lab/testing, and support spaces.
Why It Works: It’s a smart adaptive reuse. By repurposing an existing suite, we accelerated project delivery and maximized resources.
Design Highlights:
⬆️ Clear zoning: Patient, staff, and testing functions are separated for flow and discretion.
👤 Acoustic + visual privacy: Strategic layout, materials, and glazing support confidentiality and comfort.
🫱🏻🫲🏻 Stakeholder coordination: Harvard Housing & Real Estate, Capital Projects, EH&S, and the building landlord (BXP) aligned around needs, operations, and constraints.
🩺 Purpose-built details: Clinical finishes, lighting, and equipment placement make the small footprint feel capable and professional.
The Bottom Line: A compact footprint doesn’t have to limit what a clinic can do. Harvard’s EH&S Occupational Health Clinic shows how thoughtful design turns an under-used office suite into a high-functioning health resource.
