Underused office finds new life as an employee health hub at Harvard University

In response to the University’s growing need for an on-site occupational health resource, a vacant 1,000-sf office suite adjacent to the Kennedy School was transformed into an efficient clinic with exam rooms, a small lab, and essential support spaces. Ebbrell Architecture + Design worked closely with stakeholders to distill program goals and deliver a compact yet highly functional environment for routine employee health services.

  • Coordinated the varied requirements of Harvard University Housing and Real Estate (HUHRE), Harvard Capital Projects, Harvard Environmental Health and Safety, and the building owner (BXP).
  • Strategically planned three exam rooms, a groupoffice, and a lab/testing zone within a tight 1,000-sf footprint.
  • Balanced public visibility with patient privacythrough best-practice sound dampening, thoughtful sightline control, andspecialized glazing treatments.
