Color and texture dominated 2023 designs

"Color is power which directly influences the soul," proclaimed the renowned painter and art theorist Wassily Kandinsky. And in 2023, color, along with texture, took center stage in the innovative designs crafted by Ebbrell Architecture + Design.

Our mission? To fashion spaces that transcend functionality and offer a spectrum of experiences – from enticing and relaxing to collaborative and private – all while prioritizing the health and well-being of the occupants. This vision unfolded in our projects spanning office environments, community spaces, and technical and lab facilities.

Layout plans featuring cafes, adaptable walls, and cozy meeting spaces addressed functional needs, but it was the interplay of color and texture that answered the emotional nuances of our designs.

Employers understood that in addition to having functional and well-branded spaces, getting staff back in the office post-Covid meant creating workplaces that more closely resembled home offices. Plants, colorful wall coverings, bright, airy spaces, murals, and materials and fabrics that offered tactile as well as visual stimulation were all incorporated into designs.

And parents who dropped family members at school and group centers wanted the same for them. Bright inclusive and stimulating spaces that excited their imaginations and offered multiple options for learning, play, and exercise were key to our community designs.

Some of our workspace designs shared dual roles—welcoming both employees and clients. Whether evoking luxury and glamour or providing entertaining and engaging atmospheres, it was our meticulous color selection and incorporation of textures that brought forth desired emotions and crafted a distinctive sense of place.

As we stride into 2024, we eagerly anticipate the creative challenges ahead. We look forward to sharing our expertise and thoughtful creativity, partnering with our clients as they embark on upcoming design projects.
