Kidsborough expands brand in Hopkinton with launch of new daycare and preschool, Littleborough

When the owner of Kidsborough was looking to expand her Hopkinton location to include preschool and daycare programming, she searched for boutique design firms and came across Ebbrell Architecture + Design.  Prioritizing her own staff’s childcare needs, Kidsborough established a new daycare and preschool at their Hopkinton site.  The7,150 SF two-level former aftercare space was converted to create Littleborough, and a 3^rd floor was leased for the after school program.  The company underwent a total re-brand with Ember Creative and the colors and graphics of the new brand are reflected throughout the space in painted murals, colorful furniture, and architectural accents.  The project was built by Votze Butler Associates and engineered by RMF.

• Gutted 1^st and 2^nd floors to create (1) infant room, (2) toddler rooms and (2) preschool rooms, with restrooms and age-appropriate gross motor and imaginary play spaces.
• Rubber flooring was used throughout, a more sustainable solution to vinyl, and “roads” and crosswalks were created in main circulation spaces to simultaneously add whimsy and order to the floor plan.
• Specified LED lighting allows for user control and a much brighter space.  Globe fixtures on the 2^nd floor and stairs are custom-colored to accent the brand and circulation areas and acoustical lights in the preschool classrooms absorb sound.
• Designed custom acoustical clouds and implemented brand colors and murals by Ember Creative.
